Former Arsenal star and pundit Paul Merson believes that if his ex-club successfully navigates the five upcoming games before Boxing Day, they could clinch the Premier League title this season.
As the title race intensifies and the festive season approaches, the Gunners face crucial matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Luton Town, and Aston Villa in consecutive away games. They then play Brighton & Hove Albion at home on December 17 before a challenging Anfield clash against Liverpool on December 23.
Merson sees these five fixtures as decisive for Arsenal's championship hopes. He said on Sky Sports, via Sportskeeda:
"Five games before Boxing Day. Big five games coming up for every team. I think if Arsenal get through this, I think Arsenal win the league."
Currently, Mikel Arteta's team lead the league with 30 points from 13 games, closely pursued by Manchester City and Liverpool. Both teams are strong challengers for the title this term.
Pep Guardiola's squad is gearing up for a clash against Tottenham scheduled for Sunday, December 3, followed by upcoming matches against Aston Villa, Luton Town, Crystal Palace, and Brentford. Meanwhile, Liverpool's schedule includes upcoming fixtures against Fulham, Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Burnley.
