Arsenal pre-season friendlies: fixtures, dates 2023/24
Arsenal are looking forward to the upcoming pre-season for the 2023/24 campaign and ahead of it, there has been positive news regarding the injuries of five key players.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, who had a minor calf injury, missed the last two games of the season but is expected to be fully fit for pre-season.
Ukraine international's injury was not serious enough to keep him sidelined for a longer period, and Mikel Arteta decided to rest him to avoid any further risks.
The defender was an important player for the Gunners since his arrival last season, so having him available from the start of pre-season will provide a major boost to the team.
Gabriel Martinelli as well had an ankle injury that kept him out for the final month of the season. However, it was claimed earlier that the Brazilian would be available for pre-season.
On the other hand, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny suffered more severe knee injuries, requiring surgery and would have a recovery period of around six months. However, according to Football London, both players have been seen working on their fitness at London Colney, which is a positive sign.
Meanwhile, there hasn't been a recent update on William Saliba's back injury, but it is expected that he will be back for pre-season. The manager stated that the France international was making fast progress and the hope is that he will be ready for the start of the upcoming campaign is growing.
