Alan Shearer says 22-year-old isn’t good enough to play in Chelsea's regular squad

Alan Shearer believes Chelsea youngster Nicolas Jackson is yet to establish himself in Chelsea's regular squad.

The 22-year-old has faced scrutiny in his debut season with the club. He has been a topic of conversation as he endeavors to step up in the attacking lineup.

While Jackson has managed to score eight goals in 23 appearances across various competitions for the Blues, there are concerns about his overall performance. Despite his goal-scoring record, he is gaining a reputation for missing key opportunities in front of goal.

Shearer has weighed in on the discussion, suggesting that Jackson is not yet at the level required to be a consistent starter for a club like Chelsea aiming for Champions League success and major trophies.

According to the former Premier League star, Jackson may improve over time but is currently not ready for regular first-team action.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer said (via The Chelsea Chronicle): “He’s not ready to be a regular for a club that wants to get into the Champions League and win everything. He may come good but he is not ready to be a regular.”
