Elina Svitolina wins first match of WTA Finals

Elina Svitolina won the opening match at the WTA Finals, held in Singapore.  With a score of 6: 3, 6: 3, she defeated Czech player Petra Kvitova. This is the Ukrainian’s first victory over Kvitova since 2014.  At the moment the score in personal meetings is 7: 2 in favour of the Czech. Earlier Ukraine's No.1 has been eliminated from the US Open. She lost the fixture in the Round of Last 16, where her opponent was Anastasia Sevastova. Svitolina lost in two of the three sets (6:3, 1:6, 6:0).
