Diogo Dalot has told Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he is waiting for an opportunity to impress for the club after the 2 - 0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
Dalot had to miss United games due to his hip and groin injuries, having played in just 5 games this season.
The 20-year-old is likely to have more playing time after Ashley Young's move to Inter Milan earlier this month. Yet, Marcus Rashford's absence would advance the player's role in the squad.
After a long-term absence, Dalot has shared his thoughts. He told
manutd.com: "It was a tough two months for me. Unfortunately, I got an injury I wasn’t expecting. But I’ve been working hard for this moment and I’m ready to go again. For a player to be out injured and not be able to help the team, especially when the results are not so good it’s the worst moment for a player. And you’re just focused on recovering as fast as you can and that’s what I made sure I did this time. I took my time to get fit and now I’m just waiting for the opportunity."
