Dean Smith sends a MESSAGE to Villa players ahead of the Carabao Cup final

Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith believes Aston Villa players could make history this Sunday if they beat Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.  Villa are returning to Wembley months after beating Derby County to return to the Premier League.  Despite struggling in the league and being close to the relegation zone, Lions’ coach believes football is about winning trophies and they should concentrate on making a history against Pep Guardiola’s side.  “I keep speaking to players about how winning trophies has got lost along the way, simply because the success of the Premier League and the finances on offer.” Smith told the club's official website. “We all know that we need to stay in the Premier League, but winning trophies is what we go into sport for. We want to win football games and titles, and this is one of them. “We’ve got a proud history in this competition, winning it five times, and I’d love to be the manager who wins it for the sixth time.”   Aston Villa vs Manchester City will start at 16:30 (UK Time)
