Manchester United are closing to sign a new long-term deal with David De Gea.
The 28-year-old has 18 months to run his existing contract at Old Trafford after signing a 12-month extension in his contract before Christmas.
United were trying to agree a long-term deal with De Gea last summer but Jose Mourinho’s catastrophic start to the season made De Gea doubt over his future stay at the club.
However, the situation was changed under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United resumed talks of extension.
The contract – which is before bonuses and will run until 2024 – will make De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper in the world and is a significant increase on the £210,000-a-week he currently earns.
