Darren Bent: New manager came only 30 seconds after the previous one got sacked

Former Tottenham forward Darren Bent remembers the day they were told Juande Ramos was sacked.  It was in 2008. Spurs had their worst start of the season. Ramos, who had won the League cup that year, was sacked because the North London side had only 2 points after 8 matches.  The bizarre thing, that Bent mentions, was that Harry Redknapp walked in the hotel’s sitting room 30 seconds after Tottenham chairman told the player the Spaniard was sacked.  Juande Ramos won the League Cup with Tottenham in 2008 (Richard Heathcote/Getty Images) “The strangest one for me was when I was at Spurs we had Juande Ramos.” Bent said on talkSPORT. “He got sacked in the evening (before) a game, we came down to a room, sat in this room in Canary Wharf, and the chairman came in and said: 'By the way, we’ve sacked Juande Ramos.' “The next thing Harry Redknapp just came walking in and said: ‘Hi Guys, you alright?’ Harry Redknapp (Image - Michael Regan/Getty Images) “Just out of nowhere we were sitting in this room and he just came strolling in – it was the most bizarre thing.” Former England national team striker says they didn’t have time to say thank you to Ramos, who won the cup with the club, which remains the last one till today.  “It was 30 seconds – we didn’t even see Ramos leave, but we saw Harry come in.” Bent added.
