Hull KR head of recruitment Danny McGuire has confirmed the club are looking to enforce their squad before next week’s Super League opener against Wakefield Trinity.
Rovers are short on numbers and experience after losing Mose Masoe, Weller Hauraki and Dean Hadley to serious injuries in pre-season.
Speaking to Hull Live, McGuire said:
“Ideally we would like to get somebody in as soon as possible.
“Obviously somebody from overseas would take a bit of time. Ideally we’d like to give the squad a bit of a boost before the start but that depends on circumstances.
“Signing players now, most squads are set and the players you’re looking at are not getting an opportunity and sometimes there’s a reason behind that.
“There’s some quality there but they’ve got to fit to what Tony (Smith) wants and the squad wants.
“Mose is going to be a huge leader for us – he’s going to be one of the co-captains - so to fill that void on the pitch is going to be very tough.
“It’s probably impossible so we’re just going to have to have a look and do some planning to fill that role that Mose has left.”
