Cristiano Ronaldo phoned Arsenal transfer target to convince him to sign for Juventus

Cristiano Ronaldo has called Arsenal target James Rodriguez to try and convince him to sign for Juventus this summer, according to Marca. The two were teammates at Real Madrid and Ronaldo seems keen for Rodriguez to move away from his former club and join him in Turin. It was not clear whether James has any plans to join the Serie A side because of Ronaldo, or whether Juventus would consider a summer move for the 27-year-old. It was in interviews published in La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport in December when the Portuguese mentioned Rodriguez when he was asked if he would Marcelo or Isco at Juventus. "I see that they write about James, (Gareth) Bale, (Marco) Asensio but, honestly, Juventus does not need any player," he said "You should ask the president. "Marcelo is strong, we would open the door to good players and Marcelo is one of those," he stated. James won the Champions League twice with Real Madrid before his switch to Bayern Munich.
