Chris Wilder gives update on future of Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson

Chris Wilder has backed Dean Henderson to have a long-term future at Old Trafford, though is open to signing the goalkeeper on loan again for the next season. Henderson is enjoying a good season with Sheffield United amid the talks he would return to the Red Devils to challenging David de Gea for United's No. 1 role. As the 22-year-old is impressing, playing with the Blades, Wilder has already revealed about the possibility of signing him for a third successive season, but believes the goalkeeper's long-term future is in Old Trafford. He said: "It won’t be on a permanent basis, definitely not. His future is at Manchester United, no doubt. If the opportunity came about that figure would be huge. If the opportunity comes about that we could get him back on loan next season we’d be all over that." After the club's performance against Manchester City, Wilder said, that Henderson wanted to play first-team football, which could be another chance to sign the goalkeeper for the next season. "He wants to play first team football. Maybe I shouldn't be saying this but I'm not so sure he'll play backup to anybody because it's just the character of the boy. Maybe he'll come out and say it. If there's a decision for Manchester United for him to come out to us for another year. We'd gladly take that. We've already started talking with them but he's their player and that decision will be made on behalf of Manchester United and their player but he's been outstanding for us," he added.
