Chelsea star faces a 'real fight' for game time if Blues complete Kai Havertz transfer

Christian Pulisic will face a real battle to claim a first-team spot if Kai Havertz moves to Chelsea this summer, according to reports. The USA international could see his starting place come under threat as Frank Lampard continues to overhaul the Blues attack. Lampard has already signed Hakim Ziyech and agreed a deal to sign Timo Werner this summer. But the Blues boss isn't finished there with Bayer Leverkusen ace Havertz next in his sights. When asked about Chelsea's attacking options, ESPN senior football writer James Olley said: "We know that Pedro and Willian are out of contract this summer so in terms of the wide options, those two will leave. "Pedro is talking to Roma; I think that is quite a long way down the line. Willian, we don't know exactly where he's going to go yet. There is talk of Arsenal or maybe Tottenham. One or two overseas clubs are looking at him as well. The interesting one for me in this is Christian Pulisic. He joined last summer - the deal was done in January, but he joined last summer in a £58million deal. With [Callum] Hudson-Odoi coming back in, if they do get [Kai] Havertz, you're starting to wonder where Pulisic will fit into the team. "Hudson-Odoi is extremely highly rated and [Hakim] Ziyech could play inside in a more central midfield position but you would think they bought him to play him on the right. So if you're got Ziyech, Havertz, Hudson-Odoi, [Timo] Werner and/or [Tammy] Abraham - bearing in mind Werner can play out on the left as well - suddenly you're looking at Pulisic and thinking 'he's got a real fight on here'."
