Chelsea Premier League 2018/19 season in numbers: Road to Champions League

Premier League 2018/19 season is now over. Manchester City claimed their second successive Premier League title with a 4-1 win at Brighton with Liverpool finishing a point behind in second after a 2-0 win against Wolves. Chelsea finished the season in third place with 72 points. How they earned qualification for the Champions League, after spending one season in the Europa League. The Blues started the season with new manager Maurizio Sarri, with new goalkeeper Kappa Arizzabalaga and of course, with newcomer Jorginho. After the first four rounds, Chelsea hesitated in second and third place and the highest place in the Premier League they occupied in the match week 1 when they were leading the table. From round 15 to 23 they were fourth and the worst place for the Blues was sixth where they stayed between 26-31 rounds. Maurizio Sarri’s side made 19 home appearances and won 12 games, 6 ended with a draw and they lost at the Stamford Bridge only once. In away games, they managed to win nine games, 3 matches ended with a draw and they lost in seven. Fourteen Chelsea players scored for the club, the highest number of goals has Eden Hazard with 16. Pedro is second with eight goals. Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored 6 goals, while Gonzalo Higuain and Alvaro Morata scored 5. N’Golo Kante netted 4 goals. Ross Barkley, Willian, David Luiz scored three goals. Marcos Alonso, Jorginho and Olivier Giroud netted two, while Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger scored only once. The most number of assist in this Premier League season created Chelsea star Eden Hazard-15. Willian provided six assists, while Azpilicueta and Barkley-5. Four assists created Alonso, Giroud and Kante. Two assists have Mateo Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, Luiz and Pedro. Callum Hudson-Odoi also created an assist for Sarri’s side. Chelsea star Jorginho leading the race of the most passes in the season with 3118 passes. David Luiz has 2620, Rudiger-2537, Azpilicueta-2483, Kante-2021, Alonso-1881. If someone can think, that this Premier League season was not the good one, then they need to remember, that Manchester City and Liverpool did not let any side to take their one-two places.
