Champions League predictions: Who will reach Quarterfinals?

The knockout stages of the 64th season of Europe’s premier club football tournament is here and some of Europe’s biggest clubs remain in the competition. However, the last-16 draw has thrown together some of the biggest clubs and ensure that some of them will be facing elimination at the first knockout stage. Who will come out on top when the Champions League resumes? Schalke 04 V Manchester City Schalke 04 reached the last 16 stages of the Champions League from the Group D as runner-ups. The first place in their group reached Porto. However, Schalke are far away from the club that could compete with Manchester City. They’re struggling in Bundesliga are now at the 14th place of the table with 22 points. They lost to Bayern Munich in their last game (3-1) and don’t have the right mood, squad depth and passion to beat Manchester City. The Blues meanwhile destroyed Chelsea 6-0 in their last game and are in the best mood. Despite that, Manchester City have always been favourite of the clash. Pep Guardiola’s side have met Schalke 04 six times, four games ended with a victory and two with the draw. Goal difference is 16:3. Domenico Tedesco’s squad need to be careful as they can concede goals as more as possible. Who will go through? Manchester City Atletico Madrid V Juventus Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo makes his first return to Madrid as a player since leaving Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid have finished as runners-up three times in the competition and will be looking to get their place in the final which takes places at Wanda Metropolitano on 1 June. However, the Serie A side remains one of the favourites and with the Portuguese player in their ranks should have just enough firepower to find a way through Diego Simeone’s defence. Who will go through? Juventus Manchester United V PSG When the draw was made in December, everyone where sure, that PSG already have their place in quarter-finals. SURPISE. Jose Mourinho was sacked by the Red Devils and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer transformed the club. Manchester United seem to be a perfect club. They have a good defence, thanks to Mourinho and they’re now attacking and scoring goals. PSG, meanwhile, have faced problems.  PSG are without  Neymar (broken metatarsal), full-back Thomas Meunier (concussion) and remain unsure about Edinson Cavani’s availability after he was forced off with a thigh issue over the weekend. A 2-1 Ligue 1 defeat at Lyon on Feb. 3 also dented confidence. Who will go through? Manchester United Tottenham V Borussia Dortmund Tottenham beat Borussia Dortmund twice in last season’s group stage and it’s looked give them a route to the quarterfinals. However, injuries to Dele Alli and Harry Kane will rule the England pair out of the first leg and they could miss the return game.  Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, boasts attacking quality. Who will go through? Borussia Dortmund Lyon V Barcelona Ernesto Valverde’s side will be expected to progress without too many problems. However, Lyon are not the easiest rival. They beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and drew with the English Champions in France. The captain Nabil Fekir has excelled, Memphis Depay will also be a problem. Who will go through? Barcelona Ajax V Real Madrid Matthijs de Light and Frenkie de Jong are driving Ajax, meanwhile, Real Madrid have been poor in defence of their trophy as the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo hit them hard.  Frenike de Jong will join Barcelona in the summer and will be aiming to score his goal against Real Madrid.  Real Madrid, however, know how to win the Champions League games. Who will go through? Real Madrid Liverpool V Bayern Munich The clash whi9ch is like a final game. Two heavyweights will put everything they have to go through. Bayern Munich have problems under Niko Kovac and will be without Thomas Muller for the first leg at Anfield. Liverpool, meanwhile, will be favourites on current form. Who will go through? Liverpool Roma V Porto Maybe this game is a clash of underdogs. As for now, one of them can reach the quarterfinal; however, will not have any chances to reach the semifinals. Roma are struggling in sixth place with 38 points, Porto, meanwhile, top their domestic league. Roma’s experience at this level could tip the balance in their favour if they can resolve their issues. Who will go through? Roma
