The English Premier League 5th and France’s 1st teams are to face each other in UEFA Champions League group stage. Bayern Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow being their opponent in the stage, they both have chances to proceed to the play-offs. That is why this game can be considered as a clash, which might later on be decisive, about which team are the first and which are the second.
Both of the teams are known to be in a competitive form. As their national leagues kicked off, the teams haven’t lost, which Monaco sharing the first position alongside with Nice. The French side have won three of the 4 games at the start of Ligue 1.
The English side, in turn, have recorded two draws against both of the Liverpool teams. In the last round Pochettino’s team were keen on trashing unfortunate Stoke City (0-4), as their attacking trio Eriksen – Kane – Min Son worked well to create three of the team’s four goals. By the way, all three are expected to start in the evening’s clash.
Tottenham and Monaco in their form are familiar to each other. In the last European season, they met within the boundaries of Europa League Group stage, as a big win 4-1 was recorded at White Hart Lane. When Monaco hosted the clash the teams drawn the match (1-1). As a result Tottenham headed the group, while Monaco was out of the competition. Another match was played back in 2013, where Monaco trashed Tottenham 5-2 in a friendly, to establish an exact equality in H2H statistics (One win each and a draw).

The clash between defending UCL champion and the Portuguese runner-up is not really considered one of the central ones in the round. Despite the fact that both of the teams started their national leagues with 100% effectiveness, the class differences between them are obvious and Sporting are the widely recognized underdogs of the match.
However, there is an interesting fact about the clash. Sporting are Real Madrid main star’s Cristiano Ronaldo’s team, from where Manchester United acquired the future 3 times Ballon D’Or winner. And although he has not won any trophies with Sporting, Ronaldo admitted that the club has been a part of who he is now. The world football expects Ronaldo to show an emotional performance against his former club.
As regards the clubs’ meeting before, they have faced each other back in UCL season 2000/2001 (group stage), when Real Madrid trashed Sporting 4-0 at home and recorded a draw (2-2) as guests.

Serie A and Europa League champions’ clash cannot be unseen. They are the ‘kings’ of those leagues, as Juventus won five Serie A trophies in a row, and Sevilla won the second best European tournament 5 times in last 10 years. Impressive isn’t it?
Moreover, both of the teams started their national leagues with good effectiveness. Juventus haven’t lost any points, while Sevilla have drawn once to secure the second place in la Liga table so far.
However, both of the teams seem to have big losses in their defense. Juventus’ Claudio Marchisio and Sevilla centre-back Michael Krohn-Dehli are out due to injuries, letting Higuain, Dybala and Vietto shine in attack.
These teams have met in the last season as well as they were in the same group again. Both of them managed to win at home (1-0 Sevilla and 2-0 Juventus). Back in 2009 they had a friendly, when Juventus won 1-2.
The basic data for other clashes can be found above.
