Brendan Rodgers explains why Leicester City sold Kamal Sowah

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has claimed the club “had to be fair” to Kamal Sowah in letting the young talent leave for Club Brugge. The 21-year-old left the Foxes at the end of last week, moving to the Belgian champions in a deal worth around £7m. Sowah joined Leicester from Ghana's Right to Dream academy back in 2018 and had spent the past three-and-a-half years on loan at OH Leuven. The midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in their first season back in the top flight last term, starting every match in an array of positions behind the striker, scoring eight goals and providing six assists. However, Brendan Rodgers' side was willing to free up funds to bring in a new winger and  Sowah has been allowed to depart.
When asked whether it was a difficult decision to let Sowah go, Rodgers said: “You have to be fair to the player.   “He did great in Belgium and there was a great market there for him, which shows you by the number that they’ve paid for him, that he’s seen as a talent.   “Just you have to assess it. He wasn’t going to play for us, we’ve got players ahead of him in his position, and he’s at the stage in his career where he wanted to continue progressing.   “Where he’s come from, it’s an amazing story, how well the boy has done. He was fantastic over the course of pre-season, a really humble man who worked hard, played the pre-season games and now gets the chance to continue his career. We wish him all the very best.”
