BREAKING: Lyon president reveals the whole truth on Nabil Fekir’s Liverpool transfer collapse

Lyon president Jean-Michael says Nabil Fekir’s transfer to Liverpool did not collapse over fears about a long-standing knee problem. The Frenchman was very close to joining Liverpool in the summer in a deal worth £58million. Reportedly, he had already taken pictures in the shirt and filmed his welcome interview – but the collapsed in the final stage. Reports suggested that the main reason was issues concerning his knee. Fekir ruptured his ACL three years ago and has had knee problems ever since, though Aulas insists that was not the reason the deal fell apart. "At the final moment, the three parties did not find an agreement, but not just Liverpool & Lyon, who had had an agreement," Aulas told RMC. "There was a change of heart from Liverpool’s point of view, as we were in a tight situation in that Nabil was about to go to the World Cup, we decided to finish [the talks]. "Nabil at the time was ok with all of that." On whether Fekir’s knee was the issue, Aulas continued: "I think it was one of the arguments that was used on the Liverpool side, but personally I do not think it was the real reason." According to Lyon president Nabil Fekir is going to extend his contract and has no intention to depart from Lyon in the nearest future.
