Roy Keane has revealed he believes Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes were all better footballers than him.
Former Manchester United midfielder was one of the key players in Sir Alex Ferguson’s team, playing 469 games in total between 1993 and 2005 and winning 7 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups and one Champions League with the Red Devils.
However, in spite his huge role at Old Trafford, Keane believes Gerrard, Lampard and his teammate Scholes were better players than him.
He told the
Irish Independent: "When you compare me to players — people talk about Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard — these guys were way better than me.
I’m not saying they had the same influence in their teams as me and I couldn’t compete with the guys, but, yeah, they were better than me. I had lads at Rockmount better than me. I’m under no illusions about that."
