Bayern Munich confident to seal Leroy Sane deal this summer

Bayern Munich believe they will land Leroy Sane from Manchester City this summer. Reportedly, Pep Guardiola is open to let Sane leave despite the 23-year-old’s contribution to their historic domestic Treble this season. Signed from Bundesliga side Schalke in 2016 for £37million, Sane has played 47 times for City this season, scoring a total of 16 goals in all competitions. He has two years left on contract, but Guardiola is keen on Benfica’s Joao Felix as he looks to reshape his squad. Last week Guardiola explained why City will agree to let Sane agree a new deal. “With Leroy, we are one-and-a-half years trying to sign his new contract,” he said. “We want him — if you want to extend his contract, it’s because you want him. You’re not going to extend his contract because you don’t want him. It’s like [midfielder Ilkay] Gundogan, for example - it’s the same case. “Some movements we have to do for next season, yes, because people want to leave and players want to play. They accept not playing for a [certain] period but when the period is long, it’s normal that they want to play more.”
