Arsenal to make announcement that affects Emi Buendia and Julian Brandt transfers

Arsenal have already begun cutting down the numbers of their first-team squad with a couple of loan deals. Sead Kolasinac has rejoined Schalke, while William Saliba is spending the remainder of the season with Ligue 1 side Nice. Mesut Ozil and Sokratis both linked with moves away. According to reports, Arsenal are preparing to announce the departure of another first-team player. However, it's not Ozil or Sokratis. Daily Mail claims that third-choice goalkeeper Matt Macey is set to swap England for Scotland and join Hibernian. But Macey's expected exit could affect Arsenal's recruitment plans. According to football.london, Norwich City's Emi Buendia is high up on Arsenal's list of targets, but the club are yet to make a formal approach in regards to looking to secure a deal for his signature. Meanwhile, interest in Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt is natural and Arsenal are sounding out the possibility of getting a permanent deal done this month. However, the idea of both players joining Arsenal before the window closes hinges on the club freeing up another homegrown slot in their 25-man Premier League squad. There's one slot available following Kolasinac's exit, and Macey leaving doesn't open up another spot as he is one of the five homegrown players included in the squad. Therefore, Arteta and Edu may have to choose between Buendia or Brandt.
