Arsenal injury update: Five players could miss out against Newcastle

Arsenal return to Premier League action against Newcastle in fourth place on Monday but there are injured players among Unai Emery’s squad. Five Arsenal players could be unavailable for the visit of Newcastle on Monday night. Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey was forced to withdraw from international duty with a thigh problem. It is not thought to be a serious injury but he still remains a doubt for the clash. Sead Kolasinac and Sokratis Papastathopoulos both had slight injury worries over the international period. However, the pair later played the full 90 minutes against each other as Bosnia and Greece drew 2-2. Midfielder Granit Xhaka had to be substituted during Switzerland’s 3-3 draw with Denmark due to an adductor injury. The 26-year-old issued an update on Instagram, writing: “It is always painful not to be able to go the full distance but I pushed myself as hard as I could until I had to ask for my substitution in the 79th minute. “After not being able to finish the match fighting with my teammates, I will have the first treatment still tonight to make sure to recover quickly.” Nacho Monreal  didn’t travel to Dubai with the team to recover from a calf problem. Arsenal will also be without Lucas Torreira, who is suspended after his sending off against Tottenham. Danny Welbeck, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding all remain out with long-term injuries.
