Antena 3 Deportes: Joaquín Caparrós on his experience as Armenia National Team coach: "Tears come to your eyes"


Armenia National Team head coach Joaquín Caparrós has admitted in an interview to Antena 3 Deportes, he has been living an experience that goes beyond football. Ex-Sevilla coach managing Armenian side since March but his stint as a coach were hit two times by Covid-19 and then, old conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Caparrós explained, he had to blend in with the reality of the country. "We must try to put ourselves in their situation because they were very, very affected. Tears come to your eyes," Caparros admitted to Antena 3 Deportes. As the war raged in the country, Caparros saw with sadness how many young football players went to the war front. "A state of war is declared and all the boys cannot leave," explained the coach. However, the conflict also served to motivate the team in their historic match against North Macedonia. In the UEFA Nations League C Group, Armenia beat Macedonia to top the group, thanks to a goal by Hovhannes Hambardzumyan.
