Angel di Maria to pay fine after settling Spanish tax fraud case

di Maria has been fined €2m (£1.76m) after admitting to two counts of tax fraud in Spain

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Angel di Maria has been fined €2m (£1.76m) after admitting to two counts of tax fraud in Spain.

Ex-Manchester United attacker was also handed a one-year prison sentence, but he is unlikely to serve jail time as sentences under two years in Spain are suspended.

PA Sport says the 29-year-old midfielder will repay £1.14m – the figure that relates to image rights that he earned in 2012 and 2013 while playing for Real Madrid.

Di Maria, who left the Spanish giants in 2014 before joining the Red Devils for one season, has also been ordered to pay a 60% fine.
