Adam Pearson responds to Hull FC player criticism and players socialising

Hull FC owner Adam Pearson has responded to the criticism of the club’s players amid the news of six testing positive for coronavirus. A number of FC players have come in for criticism after posting pictures at the weekend of them socialising and winding down following Sunday’s heavy defeat to Salford Red Devils. That criticism increased on Wednesday, with some players responding on social media to defend their actions and switch the focus onto those who have tested positive and the desire to see them and their family come through this worrying process safe and well. Some supporters, however, have linked the players socialising to the club being struck down with coronavirus, with that suggestion rubbished by Pearson, who says the players were infected before the game against the Red Devils. When asked about the players being criticised, on talkSPORT, Pearson said: “I don’t think it is on. “I think some of the pictures Sunday evening were not great, but I think professional players, how do they unwind after a game? "I’ve gone home really disappointed along with supporters and some were pictured smiling and doing this or that, but we followed protocol to the letter and this hasn’t been caused by a social meeting in a back garden it has been caused in a dressing room, physio room or fitness room. “I don’t think it has been the players’ fault at all.” Hull remain of the belief the virus was brought into the training ground by a player ahead of the weekend, with a physio being infected and then passing it on to the players before the match with the Red Devils.
