AC Milan are stepping up their interest in Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.

Chelsea are prepared to allow Cahill to leave on loan in January to secure more regular first-team football.

According to Corriere dello Sport,  Milan could make a January bid for Cahill to bolster their options at the back.

Cahill has made just six competitive appearances for Chelsea this season, with only 21 minutes in the Premier League.
