'A complete misunderstanding' - Jurgen Klopp makes bold claim on Liverpool's cup priorities

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claims he is "desperate" to get back to Wembley as he opened up on what he sees as a "complete misunderstanding" over the Reds' cup priorities. The Merseyside club will contest a domestic semi-final for the first time in five years when they entertain Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup on Thursday night. Liverpool have rarely troubled the latter stages of either domestic cup competition since. As a place at Wembley is a real possibility this term, the manager says he and his squad will give their all to make it to February's showpiece.
"Yes, we are desperate to [get to Wembley]," Klopp said. "We always wanted to do that.   "There is a complete misunderstanding, I think we lost a semi-final, but yes, we are here to win trophies.   "That is a trophy and we are quite determined to get through but there is a big hurdle in Arsenal, who are in a really good shape.   "Other people have to decide [how] that [affects your legacy]. I think what the boys have done since we have been here was exceptional.   "We were close a couple of times [to winning the Premier League], closer than close and one time we made it happen.   "I am far away from giving up this season, as long as Manchester City and Pep Guardiola work together with these players, of course, we will try with all we have but there are other competitions.   "Even if we go through against Arsenal, the final will be against Tottenham or Chelsea, so it is not a home run.   "If anyone thinks we don’t want to win, I cannot help. We try constantly, every day."
