5 Reasons why Jose Mourinho is best man to replace Pochettino at Tottenham

Tottenham have sacked Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday, and on Wednesday Jose Mourinho was announced to replace him as a Spurs head coach. The north London club have endured a disappointing start to the season with winning just three out of their 12 Premier League fixtures, after reaching to the Champions League final last term. After Pochettino, former Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho was appointed to replace him, and here are 5 reasons proving the Portuguese manager is the best man to manage Spurs.
  1. Winning Mentality
Mourinho, in his career as a manager, has won 25 major trophies and 11 of those have come in England, including 3 Premier League titles with Chelsea and UEFA Europa League with Manchester United. Inter Milan under Mourinho’s management have endured a historic treble in the 2009/10 season winning Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League. There is an art form to playing poorly and still winning, with confidence and flexibility playing a major part and Mourinho’s teams have both in abundance.
  1. Transfer Acumen
Mourinho has broken records in the transfer market with signing big names and in the summer of 2017, he became the first-ever manager to spend more than £1 billion in transfer fees. He had some huge success with signing Wesley Sneijder, Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito at Inter Milan, alike Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United and Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba and Diego Costa at Chelsea. However, fans have mentioned Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez as just expensive flops at Old Trafford.
  1. Tactical Versatility
Mourinho has favoured a 4-2-3-1 formation during his time at Chelsea with Drogba and Frank Lampard working in tandem. Although this formation has shifted into 4-3-3 when Chelsea had the ball and then into 4-5-1 when out of possession or with a low block. His sharp eye for details and desire to be flexible could be exactly what Tottenham need right now.
  1. Ruthless Streak
His desire to win the trophies may occasionally come at a cost on a human level, as many players have fallen victim to Mourinho’s approach: certain players, like Iker Casillas and Paul Pogba, are among them. However, his ability to drive players on often gets the best out of them. For instance, Samuel Eto’o was shunted out to the left-wing by Mourinho at his successful 2009/10 season at Inter Milan which saw them winning the treble.
  1. Motivation For Revenge
Due to his behaviour people either love or hate him. But when the revenge time comes he is believed to take it. Chelsea fans booed him last year when he returned to the Stamford Bridge as United boss and Spurs can get all of the motivation for revenge for the December 4th clash with Manchester United and the 22nd fixture against the Blues.
