3 Free agents Arsenal could sign this summer

Summer transfer is approaching, with Arsenal in desperate need of new players and boosting their squad after poor season. Given the financial impacts of the pandemic, it might be time for the Gunners to pick up some shrewd signings on the cheap. So here are three players who will be free agents this summer and the north London side might persuade them to join them.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

Chelsea handed Gianluigi Donnarumma transfer blow Getty Images Gunners keeper Bernd Leno, is reportedly set to leave the club and Arsenal may look to cash in on the German while he still has two years left on his current deal. And Gianluigi Donnarumma can be an ideal replacement. The 22-year-old may leave boyhood club AC Milan with his contract set to expire this summer. And signing the Italian would be a huge coup for Arsenal. Donnarumma  has been in impressive form this season, registering an impressive 12 clean sheets, the second most in Italy's top-flight. His consistent shot-stopping has seen him rack up 25 caps for the Italian national team, a mean feat considering his age and competition.

Memphis Depay

Getty Images As strikers Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are both approaching the final 12 months of their contracts it could be the perfect opportunity to sell them both on and replace them with Memphis Depay. This season the 27-year-old has netted 22 times and provided 10 assists in his 39 games for Lyon. A player of Depay's quality and experience on a free transfer would be a dream for any club in Europe, especially Arsenal who could use his versatility in their forward line.

Ryan Bertrand

The ideal solution to the Gunners' left-back woes could be signing Southampton's Ryan Bertrand for free this summer. The 31-year-old has had a successful stint on the south coast, making 244 appearances for the Saints since his move from Chelsea in 2015. Bertrand started the Blues' Champions League final triumph over Bayern Munich in 2012. His impressive displays coupled with his notable consistency could make him a shrewd piece of business for Mikel Arteta's men this summer.
