The Sun banned by Everton for Barkley remarks

British newspaper The Sun is officially banned from activities in Everton home stadium Goodison Park, after disrespectful remarks made about midfielder Ross Barkley.

The magazine’s journalist Kevin Mackenzie compared Barkley to a gorilla and also assumed he has been involved in drug dealing in Liverpool.

Everton’s official website and social media pages announced the fact that The Sun will now be restricted from attending any of the Everton clashes, despite the apologies and immediate Mackenzie dismissal.

The columnist himself did not accept allegations in racism towards the player, claiming that he had no idea of the player’s African background (Barkley’s grandfather was Nigerian).
