BVB star reveals his desire to play for Barcelona
Ousmane Dembele informed Barcelona chiefs he will play for the club in the future after he rejected a move to the La Liga champions earlier this year, reports Mundo Deportivo. Dembele burst on to the scene at Rennes last season and subsequently attracted admiring glances from around Europe. The 19-year-old eventually opted for Borussia Dortmund, who snapped him up for an initial fee of €8m (£7.2m), but he could have signed for Barcelona. Barca’s sporting director Robert Fernandez offered him the chance to join the club, but he turned it down as he was aware that he would not have had regular first-team football due to the presence of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. However, Dembele is understood to have told Fernandez that he will play at Barcelona in the future at some point.
Real Madrid and PSG offered big bonus to Neymar
Barcelona striker Neymar was an object of transfer speculations all the summer long. El Mundo Deportivo informs, that the 24-year-old Brazilian was not only offered 5-year deals in Real Madrid and PSG, but a one-time transfer bonus, estimating 40 m euros. Moreover, Real Madrid were ready to pay 32 m euros annually after taxes, while PSG offered even more - 40 m euros. However, Neymar opted to remain at Barcelona where he earns 15 m euros a year. It's also revealed, that PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi promised to build a hotel in Brazil and name it in Neymar's honor, also making him a 30-percent shareholder of the new business. Manchester United, on the other hand, were ready to improve any offer of their opponents. Manchester City have even started negotiations with Neymar's father, but they didn't make an offer at the end.
Pique announces international retirement date
Gerard Pique is a constantly under criticism in his country. Fans didn't hesitate to express their frustration from the Barca man's behavior once again. In the game against Albania Pique was the only member of Spain team whose t-shirt didn't contain the yellow-red tale on the sleeve. People think that Pique did it intentionally, not wanting to play with a t-shirt which has Spanish flag on it. These all criticism led Pique to make a decision on his international career. The defender has confirmed the date of his retirement from national team football. "I will play my last matches for Spain in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. I've thought about it a lot. This isn't a spur of the moment decision," Pique said.
Sergio Ramos out for at least one month
Real Madrid and Spain captain Sergio Ramos suffered a sprained lateral ligament in his left knee during the game against Albania. Dr. Oscar Celada has confirmed this injury, stating that the recovery time will depend on the extent of the accident. Ramos has picked up the injury in the 79th minute of the match, being forced to leave the pitch. Real Madrid will be without their captain for at least one month, though the recovery period may last longer. "Downtime depends on the degree of the sprain, I will not venture to say deadlines," Dr. Oscar Celada said. To determine the degree of the sprain, Ramos will undergo MRI as soon as he arrives in Madrid.
Chicharito may return to La Liga
Sevilla and Valencia are keen on former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Javier Hernandez, reports AS. The Mexico international has starred for Bayer Leverkusen since leaving United in the summer of 2015. He scored 26 times in 40 appearances last term, while he has netted seven times in eight matches in the Bundesliga this season. His form has alerted La Liga sides Sevilla and Valencia, who want the poacher to solve their goalscoring problems. However, Hernandez’s buyout clause is set at €45m (£40.5m) and that could prove to be tricky for both Spanish sides.
Barca and Valencia discuss new swap
Barcelona are looking to do a swap deal with Valencia with Aleix Vidal heading to the Mestella and rising star Joao Cancelo moving the other way, according to Spanish outlet Radio Valencia. Barca sporting director Robert Fernandez is said to be involved in discussions with Cancelo valued at €25m (around £22m), but the Catalans are willing to pay around €15m (around £13.2m) and include Vidal into the proposed deal. To recall, Barcelona and Valencia did big business during the summer transfer window, as Andre Gomes and Paco Alcacer made a move to Catalonia, while Munir El Haddadi Martin Montoya moved to the reverse direction.
Isco: I don’t think about leaving Real Madrid
Isco says he did not think about leaving Real Madrid in the summer. The 24-year-old was linked with a move away from the Bernabeu due to a lack of playing time. However, asked by Marca whether he considered leaving, he said: "Not really, I have two years left on my Real contract, the club said nothing and I never looked for anything to leave." Questioned about a possible renewal, he added: "I don't know, the truth is that I have not yet thought about it, nor have they asked me to renew, so I am calm. I take it day by day, which is important."
Edgardo Bauza: “Lionel Messi is “worried” about his groin injury”
Argentina head coach Edgardo Bauza has revealed that Lionel Messi is "worried" about his groin injury. "Messi is worried about his injury. He wants to play games and it's difficult to be without him. We never toyed with the option of having him in this squad. We have to be careful together. Barcelona's medical staff know perfectly what he has to do, I simply say that he has to look after himself," Bauza told TyC Sports. "He's now in the recovery process, which is good news. I think he'll be at a good level when he returns. I still say we should all take care of Messi. Here in Argentina, he played only one game in three months. We don't have the best attacking player there is, so you have to put other options in to find that cutting edge. Argentina can find it because we have very good players. "The idea is that Gonzalo Higuain, if he is fit, will play as the number nine and Sergio Aguero will play behind him. [Paulo] Dybala could play instead of Messi on the right. Dybala can play Messi's role, given his position and numbers. Paulo is a player who can break the balance of the game," he added.
Suarez wants better contract
Uruguay international Luis Suarez is going to sign a new deal with FC Barcelona. As reported by Sport.es, the club is interested in keeping their superstar. The new contract will run until 2021. However, there still exists a problem which complicates the renovation: the salary. Suarez wants to earn as Neymar Jr. does. The Brazilian striker's salary reaches almost €15 million, while Suarez gets only 10. Barca's the most expensive transfer earns even less than Iniesta. The highest-paid player in the club is Leo Messi, whose annual payment is €21.2 million. In this season, Suarez scored 5 goals in 7 matches
