Mourinho wants to spend to strengthen Man Utd defence in January
Manchester United are apparently ready to spend to strengthen their defence in January. The Daily Record reference club sources as saying Utd will "allocate significant funds to the transfer fee and salary" of a "Champions League-level central defender". Who that might be is not known, but Utd could be without summer signing Eric Bailly for much of January as is he set to be away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Carrick wants to stay
Michael Carrick cannot see himself finding a new club if he's not offered a new deal at Manchester United beyond this summer. "It is not something I am looking to do at the minute - it would be very difficult to play somewhere else," Carrick said. "Everyone is different. It depends on circumstance. It depends on a lot of things. "I have said all along, I am relaxed about it (his future at United). It depends if I am playing and if I am playing well enough, if I feel I can contribute, if the manager feels I can contribute. There are a lot of things to be decided. I am quite relaxed."
Juventus join Lindelof race
Juventus want to sign Victor Lindelof. According to Calciomercato.com, the Serie A current titleholder and Inter have joined Manchester United in the race to land Benfica fullback Victor Lindelof. Juve are believed to want to bring in the Sweden international to Turin due to a recent defensive injury crisis.
Mourinho to serve one-match touchline ban
Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has been issued with a one-match touchline ban after being sent to the stands against West Ham at the weekend. The 53-year-old specialist was charged with improper conduct by the Football Association - his third charge of the season. Mourinho was been sent off for kicking a water bottle in frustration when Paul Pogba was booked for diving.

Mourinho only recently recalled Schweinsteiger to first-team sessions after weeks training with the club's youngsters, and the 32-year-old is yet to play this season as he approaches the final 18 months of his deal. Now his former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has advised him to take United for every penny he can before quitting football for good. "If I were him, I would make the people in Manchester pay until his last day," Hoeness, quoted by ESPN, said on a visit to a Bayern supporters' group. "That's what this club deserves for what they've done to him. They should be punished."

Premier-League duo want to sign Roma star
Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move for Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan, according to reports in Belgium. Chelsea reportedly attempted to sign the Belgium international in the summer but Roma resisted those approaches to keep hold of the 28-year-old. However, it is thought Nainggolan is a possible January target for both the Blues and United, despite reports in Italy suggesting Roma are set to offer him a contract extension.
