Jesse Marsch believes Illan Meslier will recover from glandular fever in time to be ready for the Manchester City clash.
The Leeds United goalkeeper was unable to feature in the club's training camp in Spain and the 2 - 1 win over Elche, due to illness.
Meanwhile, the White, 15th in the Premier League table, are set to host second-placed Manchester City in their retuning league match on December 28.
Speaking to Yorkshire Evening Post, the American manager has given n update on the Frenchman's possible return
"Illan has what you guys call glandular fever. We [in America] call it mono. So we're trying to be safe with him but also measure him appropriately and see.
"I think it'll be close when we can get him back into training, days to a week before Man City." added Marsch.
