Cesc Fabregas is one of the names that stirs a multitude of emotions among Arsenal fans, even a decade after his departure.
The Spaniard's move to Camp Nou was, in hindsight, understandable; it was his subsequent choice that left a lasting impact. However, returning to London three years later, Fabregas did not find his way back to the Emirates.
Instead, the retired Spanish international donned the colors of the Gunners' fierce rivals, Chelsea. Interestingly, the North London outfit supposedly had the first right of refusal when he departed the La Liga side, prompting questions about who the fans should have directed their frustration towards – the playmaker or Arsene Wenger.
Nonetheless, the 36-year-old's time at Stamford Bridge offered him something that eluded him at the Emirates: two Premier League titles and a League Cup.
In the Fabregas-Chelsea-Arsenal saga, there's a notable twist. According to the former player, Jorginho played a part in his departure from Chelsea. The now Como 1907 manager, himself believes that the Brazilian's arrival at Stamford Bridge in 2018 was a turning point that eventually led to the conclusion of his own journey.
"One of the biggest reasons I left Chelsea is because of him (Jorginho). He’s a very smart player, intelligent, a very good passer of the ball. The only thing I can say about him sometimes is he releases the ball too quickly when he can play forward." stated the ex-midfielder.
