CEO says Liverpool had private jet prepared for target but deal collapsed

Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk’s CEO claims that Liverpool had a private jet ready for Yevhen Konoplyanka. Back in 2014, when Konoplyanka was one of the most exciting players in Europe, the Reds agreed personal terms on £16 million. However, the deal got collapsed at the 11th hour, and the young winger (back then) was denied a move to Anfield.
“For Konoplyanka, whom Liverpool wanted to buy, a specific amount was assigned. The British club fought to the last (minute),” says Dnipro CEO Andriy Stetsenko.   “Then their representatives flew to us on a private jet for the final stage of negotiations. In case of a positive outcome, Konoplyanka was supposed to fly away with them.     “They did not agree with the figure that was announced to them. Perhaps they thought that a private jet would make some impression. That shows the seriousness of their intentions.     “(But Dnipro) did not go for a price reduction. As a result, they flew away with nothing.”
