'Bit of a banana skin': Paul Merson delivers his BLUNT prediction for Liverpool vs Chelsea

Premier League leaders Liverpool are set to face Chelsea at Anfield on Wednesday, just weeks before their anticipated clash in the EFL Cup final at Wembley.

Mauricio Pochettino's team, who managed a 1-1 draw against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in August, will confront a formidable opponent. Despite Klopp's impending departure, the Reds' recent form has been impressive, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 games, albeit facing a tough challenge with consecutive home fixtures against the Blues and Arsenal.

While the West Londoners boast an impressive 10-game unbeaten streak at Stamford Bridge, their away performances leave much to be desired, having lost five of their last six matches on the road, conceding at least twice in five of those outings.

Nonetheless, Chelsea have historically fared well at Anfield, losing just two of their last 11 visits.

Ahead of the much-anticipated meeting, football pundit Pual Merson has delivered his prediction in his Sportskeeda column. As per the pundit's expectations, the clash will end in the league leaders' 2 - 1 victory at Anfield.

"Liverpool have to keep on winning and if they get six points against Chelsea and Arsenal, they'll take some beating in the Premier League title race. I expect them to win, but if you look at Chelsea's last ten games, they've lost just twice and this game has been a bit of a banana skin for the Reds over the years, so it won't be easy."

"At the moment, I don't think Liverpool are getting the praise they deserve as they are at the top of the Premier League standings, have a cup final against Chelsea next weekend, and are amongst the favorites to win both the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League!"
