Brighton and Newcastle are keen to sign Arsenal defender
Championship high-flyers Brighton and Newcastle are keen to sign out-of-favour Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, according to the Daily Mirror. With Brighton already on their way into the top-flight and Newcastle on the verge of sealing promotion, both are keen to strengthen their respective squads ahead of next season. And, having made just five appearances for the Gunners this season, the Mirror claim Jenkinson will be allowed to leave the club, sparking another battle between the top two in the Championship.
Everton lead Keane race
Everton are confident they are leading the race to sign Burnley defender Michael Keane, according to the Daily Mail. Sky Sports News HQ understands the England international will leave Turf Moor this summer, and talk of a move to Goodison Park is gathering pace. And the Mail claims Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is hopeful of completing a £20m move for the 24-year-old centre-back.
Roma will not sign Vermaelen
Roma will not exercise their purchase option to sign on-loan Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen, according to reports in Italy. Vermaelen joined Roma on loan last summer but injuries have hampered his stay in Serie A. As such, senior Roma figures have already decided that they will not activate the purchase option clause that was inserted into his deal last summer. The former Arsenal centre-back is contracted to Barcelona until the summer of 2019. Note that Vermaelen has made 12 appearances during this season.
Jurgen Klopp: “Hart not for us”
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Liverpool are not interested in signing out-of-favour Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart. Sky Sports News HQ reported on Wednesday that Liverpool are not actively looking to recruit a goalkeeper in this summer's transfer window. And asked whether he would consider signing Hart, Klopp reiterated the Merseysiders’ stance. “It is not for us in this moment and hopefully not for us in the future,” the Reds boss said. “(That is) not because of Joe but because we already have two strong goalkeepers.”
Ancelotti wants a reunion with Real Madrid midfielder
Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti wants a reunion with Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric. The 31-year-old Croatia international played some of his best football under Ancelotti and the Italian wants to tempt him to Munich this summer. According to Don Balon, the German side management accept they need to strengthen Ancelotti's midfield options and he's recommended a move for Modric. The midfielder would arrive as a replacement for Xabi Alonso and walk straight into the first team. And Bayern, reportedly, believe they can convince Real president Florentino Perez to do business for Modric with an opening offer of €35 million. Note that Modric has made 33 appearances during this season.
Pavel Nedved thinks Juvetus are ready
Juventus Vice-President Pavel Nedved is confident in his team's potential and thinks the Bianconerri are ready to face off with Monaco. The Champions League draw resulted the upcoming clash of Monaco with Juventus, while two spanish teams Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will face off as the other semi-finalist pair. "It’s hard to say which was the best team to face meet because this competition has shown that you can never make a mistake," the Czech told the Press after the draw. "I hope and believe we will be ready to meet this challenge with the maximum of our potential. "We are expecting a very young team that runs a lot and that's always a complicated thing."
Chelsea player “surprised” by John Terry exit
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas admitted that club captain John Terry's summer exit news came as a shock. John Terry will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, after spending 22 years with the Blues. Chelsea will have to appoint a new permanent captain, as John has been captaining the team since 2004. 'It came as a surprise,' Fabregas told talkSPORT. 'There was a lot of talk and speculation that it could be his last year but we didn't know for sure. It is a very personal decision between him and the club. 'It is a shame because I cannot see anyone replacing the role he does in the team. He is irreplaceable for now.'
Arsenal to hijack Chelsea target man
Arsenal eye Southampton's Virgil van Dijk, who has been in the interest of the Blues. According to the Mirror, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger looks to bolster up his squad, as he prepares for the upcoming season. This may indicate that Arsene may as well stay for two more seasons. The 25-year-old Dutchman has been a regular starter for the Saints. Antonio Conte also looks forward to adding fresh players to the Chelsea squad alongside with Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton who all show interest in the talented centre-back. Van Dijk has won 75% of aerial duels made 56 interceptions and won 100% of his take-ons in 21 Premier League appearances this season.
Inter join the race for Monaco midfielder
Inter Milan are jumping into the battle for AS Monaco midfield star Bernardo Silva. The 22-year-old Portugal international has been one of the great revelations of the Champions League this season. It's understood that Manchester United have negotiated first refusal on Silva thanks to their close relationship with Monaco and his agent Jorge Mendes. Nevertheless, according to Tuttosport, the Serie A side ambitious Chinese owners have big plans for the summer market. The Milan club are willing to offer €50 million for Silva - which would leave United having to match or better their proposal to keep him away from Milan.
