Lukaku could replace Costa

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has backed "exceptional" Everton forward Romelu Lukaku to replace Diego Costa at Chelsea should the striker leave. "Well let's not forget he used to be at Stamford Bridge and he's been at a lot of clubs on loan because he needs games and playing time," Hasselbaink told Premier League Daily. "He's been to West Brom on loan and he's been at Everton and he's done exceptionally well. Exceptional. "The way that Chelsea are playing, he is, along with [Alvaro] Morata, the player you are going to look at to take over from Costa. "Is he [Lukaku] as good as Costa? I think they are very close. They are very similar, he's not as temperamental but he does lead the line and I think he is still going to become better."

Mauricio Pochettino: “I cannot speak about Keane and Costa”

Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino has remained tight-lipped over reports claiming the north London club were interested in signing Burnley defender Michael Keane and Bayern forward Douglas Costa this summer. “There are many rumours, I cannot speak about them," said the Argentine in his press conference ahead of the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea this weekend. "Today we must focus on Saturday and at the end of the season, players in and out, you will know when we finish the season.”

Espanyol goalkeeper admits he almost signed for Chelsea

Real Madrid reject €50m bid for Marco Asensio

Liverpool eye Los Blancos'  21-year-old attacking midfielder, however the Madrid club is keen on keeping the player. Liverpool hit with injury wave ahead of Crystal Palace fixture

Crystal Palace has been gathering points actively to escape relegation zone. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp noted that some of the players may be fit in time for the game, however England international Adam Lallana will not be able recover in time, but the 28-year-old may be ready to step on the pitch against Watford.

Atletico confirm Juanfran injury blow

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that defender Juanfran suffered a Grade II muscle injury to his left thigh during their Champions League clash with Leicester City. The full-back was forced off early in the second half of the 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium and scans have since revealed the extent of the problem. According to a statement on the Atletico website, Juanfran could face a spell on the sidelines. "Our player will undergo physiotherapy and rehabilitation treatment," the statement read. Atletico, who edged past Leicester into the semi-finals 2-1 on aggregate, face a mounting defensive crisis following the loss of fellow full-back Sime Vrsaljko to a knee problem.

Barcelona wait to make Deulofeu transfer

Barcelona will wait before deciding whether to re-sign Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu, according to the club’s sporting director Robert Fernandez. Deulofeu has revived his career on loan at Milan and that has prompted interest from Barcelona, who inserted a €12m buyback clause into the deal that took him to Everton in 2015. Fernandez is impressed by the forward’s form at Milan and admits Barca are weighing up the possibility of bringing him back to Catalonia. Speaking to Premium Sport, he said: “We have the possibility of re-signing him, in summer we will assess everything calmly, the most important thing is that he is playing well and that he maintains his level. At the [right] time we will take the correct decision.”
