Guardiola is delighted to works with David Silva
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola is delighted to be working with David Silva. The 46-year-old specialist admits he wanted to sign the midfielder when in charge of Barcelona. PSG manager Unai Emery, recalls Guardiola, urged him to move for the midfielder at the time. "'Silva is a player for your team'," Guardiola recalled Emery's recommendation. "He was right, but we could not recruit him because he was too expensive," he told El Mundo Deportivo.
Darmian focused on Manchester United
Manchester United fullback Matteo Darmian says he is ready to give his all when called upon again by head coach Jose Mourinho, despite being linked with a return to Serie A due to a lack of game time at Old Trafford. "I think I always work hard to be ready for when the manager gives me an opportunity," said Darmian. "I think I took it but I have to be focused and I have to work for it. And that's it. When the manager gives me another opportunity, I have to be ready to help the team. The most important thing was the victory though," he added.
Juventus want to sign Juan Cuadrado permanent
Juventus are ready to sign permanently Chelsea midfielder Juan Cuadrado. The London club attacking midfielder is currently on a three-year loan deal until 2019 at the Serie A titleholders, having failed to settle at Stamford Bridge. The Colombia international winger signed for Blues in 2015 from Fiorentina for around £23million. Nevertheless, a short spell without shining in west London saw him shifted on quickly back to Serie A in January 2016. According to Calciomercato.com, Juventus are close to buying him for a fee of £21m.
Neymar could leave Barcelona this summer
Real Madrid powerbrokers are convinced Neymar will leave Barcelona this summer. According to Diario Gol, the La Liga side feel the 25-year-old striker will leave Barca. The Brazil international's relationship with Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi could push him towards the exit. Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo even believes Neymar has now overtaken Messi as the Barca superstar. Manchester United have been linked with a sensational summer move for the Brazil international. The Red Devils have not stopped in their pursuit of Neymar and are still pushing for a stunning summer switch.
Alexis Sanchez is in advanced talks with Manchester City.
According to Chilean media sources, Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is in advanced talks with Manchester City. Cooperativa claim the 28-year-old striker is close to agreeing with a move to the Etihad. Sanchez's ties to Pep Guardiola are said to have swung his decision, with the pair working together at Barcelona for three years. City would also be able to complete the deal for a cut-price £50m, as the Chilean's contract expires in summer 2018 and Arsenal will be keen to cash in. Any move to Manchester would come as a shock, with Sanchez previously indicating he would favour a switch to another London club.
Valencia sign Simone Zaza permanent
Valencia have signed former West Ham attacker Simone Zaza from Juventus on a permanent deal. The 25-year-old Italy international has signed a contract to 2021, with the transfer to go through in the summer. The fee is believed to be around £12m. Note that Zaza has scored four goals for Valencia since joining the club on loan in January. He spent the first half of this season with the Hammers, where he failed to score a goal.
Lahm: We should avoid Real Madrid counter-attacks
Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm thinks they should mostly avoid the counter-attacking power their Champions League quarterfinal opponents Real Madrid possess. "The Champions League is such a tough competition," Lahm told Kicker ahead of the Wednesday first-leg against Real Madrid. "We have to avoid being counter-attacked like we were the last time we played against them. "This team has had to get used to not having the ball sometimes and knowing that it is okay for the opposition to have it. "If the defense each maintains our position, then we have the possibility to avoid being countered," the right-back concluded.
Dybala does not want to be new Messi
Juventus striker Paulo Dybala have publicly asked the fans and reporters to stop comparing his to Lionel Messi. "I really admire and respect Messi," the 23-year-old told La Repubblica ahead of the Tuesday UCL quarterfinal against Barcelona. "He has won the Champions League many times, and I’m only dreaming about the first. I play for Juve and I want to win. On the pitch we are equal and I will do everything to beat him. "Am I the new Messi? People need to understand that I am Paulo Dybala and I want to continue to be so. I understand the comparisons and expectations on me from the Argentinians, but I do not want to be the new Messi or the Messi of the future," the Argentinian international concluded on the matter.
Pique might move to MLS
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique might move to the United States Major Soccer League, Dol Balon informs. According to the source, the Spanish international might switch the league after his contract expires in summer 2018. The reasons behind such a possible decision are both personal and professional. The 29-year-old wants to play in an 'easier' league, playing in which will still be financially beneficial. On the other hand, MSL clubs LA Galaxy and New York City FC are interested in the Spanish defender's services.
Monaco duo to miss Dortmund first-leg
Monaco head coach Leonardo Jardim has announced the 20 players, who found their place in the squad for UEFA Champions league quarterfinal first-leg against Borussia Dortmund. Midfielder Tiemoue Bakoyoko and defender Djibril Sidibe will not be able to play in the clash. The French internationals will miss the game due to different reasons. The midfielder is suspended, as he counts for excess of yellow cards gathered in UEFA Champions League matches. As regards the 24-year-old right-back, he is hospitalized with appendicitis and is not likely to be fit for the Tuesday clash. Boschilla and Guido Carrillo will also miss the UCL quarterfinal first-leg due to injuries. The match will take place on Tuesday, April 11.
